Start Here

Initial Intake

This is the first step for new clients and takes 50 minutes. It consists of information gathering, clarification of goals, and provides a plan for services to best meet the client’s needs.

This is a referral-based program through the Ministry of Children and Family Development. The goals of this program are to improve relationships, communication, connection, and understanding within oneself or a family unit. Services consist of developing action plans, providing one-to-one family support and skill-building.

Haven Family Roots

We offer a safe place to talk, process life changes, and learn new skills. Our counsellors provide support when dealing with mental health related concerns such as anxiety, stress, loneliness and chronic illness.

Seniors Support

Our focus of support is on the mental health and well being of those with a diagnosis of autism. Intervention is provided via counselling, one-to-one behavioural support, parent support, and community liaison support. This program can be accessed through the Autism Funding Unit.

Autism Support

Haven provides counselling and behavioural support to children and youth engaging in homeschool programs. We become part of the student’s educational team providing input to individualized education plans and progress reports. This program is accessed privately or through the homeschool provider.

Homeschool Support

This program, funded by the Ministry of Child and Family Development, helps to support families through the process of Northern Health assessments for Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) or Complex Developmental Behaviour Concerns (CDBC). Caregiver support, community liaison support and education are provided to help stabilize the family unit throughout the assessment process and implement recommendations after an assessment is complete.

FASD/CDBC Key Worker Program

Haven Family Services is an approved provider through First Nations Health Authority. FNHA funded clients can expect a culturally competent counsellor to support individuals or couples in their journey to improved mental health and well-being.

Haven Family Services is an approved provider through Métis Nation. The Métis Counselling Connection Program (MCCP) provides assistance to Métis citizens in financial need, with the means to support them on their journey towards mental wellness. Métis Nation of British Columbia

Haven Family Services operates a crisis stabilization program for adolescent patients at the Dawson Creek and District Hospital. Our clinicians provide case management, clinical services and psychoeducation to children and youth who are experiencing disorder of mood, substance misuse, suicidal behaviour, or anxiety states. Our approach involves developing a care plan that includes collaboration with families and care teams, community engagement, and counselling support through a culturally sensitive, trauma-informed lense.

Youth Stabilization Program

The EPI program offers specialized support to children, adolescents, and young adults aged 6 to 45 who exhibit risk factors, symptoms, or diagnoses of psychosis. Tailored individual counselling, comprehensive case management, and dedicated family support are provided. This regional initiative ensures accessibility by delivering both in-person and virtual services, enabling even remote clients to benefit from the program. Referrals are accepted from community professionals, families, and clients themselves.
